Dear Seattle Area Professional,
Many people can write a properly formatted resume or c.v. But few people can write powerful resumes that consistently get job interviews.
That's what I do very well. As your professional resume writer, I will work with you to ensure that your resume stands out from the crowd. Recruiters will see that you really are more qualified than the other 90% of the pack.
Hi... I'm Joseph Perez, CPRW, CJSS. I am a Writing Professional specializing in writing resumes (a.k.a. curricula vitae or CVs) for clients throughout the Pacific Northwest and the entire United States. Through Seattle Resume Writer (a Writing Wolf LLC company), I have helped clients write resumes for more than a decade. Today, my services involve not just resumes but providing a range of career marketing documentation and job search strategy consulting services. I meet with clients over the telephone or (for local clients) in-person interviews in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood.
A little bit about me. I am a nationally published author and have earned a Bachelor's degree with Honors from Harvard University, and hold a Certificate in Integral Leadership from Pacific Integral/LIOS Graduate College of Saybrook University. In my writing and client work, I draw on many ideas, disciplines, and practices to inspire more holistic relationships to work, more conscious lives, and a better world.
As Principal of Seattle Resume Writer, I have been featured in a story by Randy Woods of The Seattle Times and been quoted by Monster.com's Resume Expert column for my expertise. I have appeared on King 5 TV in an interview with Jane McCarthy.
I've been committed to providing quality resume services since 2003, as demonstrated by my membership in the Professional Association of Resume Writers and the National Resume Writers' Association. I've earned the designation of Certified Professional Resume Writer, a credential you should definitely look for in choosing your writing partner.
Many of my clients are very good writers. But they're smart enough to know that their resume is probably the most important document they'll ever write in their career, and they know the value added by getting an experienced resume specialist's perspective. I am passionate about advancing my clients' careers.
Let me speak frankly.
It's more crucial then ever to invest wisely in your career. If you've never before felt the need to get professional resume help, then it's time to rethink your approach. What's worked in the past may not be enough in today's job climate.
It's time to "jump in" to the employment market with your very best, and there's no better investment than an exceptional resume.
Recruiters scan more resumes per job than before, and they can afford to be choosy. But there are always great opportunities out there... if only you can get past the "gatekeepers" and get a personal interview.
You only have one chance to make that critical first impression, and it's important to put your best foot forward.
Businesses have long known the importance of establishing a strong brand and hiring professional advertising agencies and public relations firms to communicate with their customers. Now individuals are discovering the value of having a personal advertising agency working on their behalf. If you're shy, I help you to toot your own horn. If you're overreaching, I help you to replace hype with fact-laden, employer-oriented resumes.
My goal is that the money you spend on your resume will be the best money you spend during your whole job search. And I'll also aim to inspire you to see your own career history in a more objective light ... giving you more confidence in your abilities and more clarity about your future.
Here's what I can do for you.
I will invite you to engage one-on-one with me to better understand your distinctive career brand. The resumes I write emerge out of a holistic process of reflection on your values and how they translate into a long-term vision of a fulfilling career. Through an (optional) questionnaire and one or more interviews/career strategy sessions, you will emerge with an ability to articulate your best and highest value proposition to employers or clients.
You will know strategies for using a portfolio of career branding documents and social media to convey your value confidently. And you will become more clear on your short-term, intermediate, and long-term career objectives ... so you will have the self-knowledge necessary to deftly navigate your job search.
I'll start by correcting spelling, punctuation, and typographical errors, maximizing readability, editing for parallelism, reducing passive voice, standardizing numbers and abbreviations, ensuring proper use of jargon and slang, and more.
I'll optimize the organizational structure of your resume, and I'll reformat it using a new design template. I will also eliminate "red flags" that attract negative attention; enhance readability and persuasiveness, ensuring that data is given an adequate context; and make sure that style and diction clearly communicate employer-oriented benefits.
I strive to avoid boilerplate; I find a tone fitting your personality and your unique strengths. Essentially, I am your ghostwriter. I collaborate with you to bring out the best in your own style.
This isn't merely a resume typesetting service. Making your resume look "pretty" isn't the point. Making your resume persuasive and effective is.
My expertise builds on years of experience in high-tech. That's why I think you'll find that Seattle Resume Writer understands the information technology resume (IT Resume) better than most.
I have written resumes for techies including: aerospace, mechanical and industrial engineers; software engineers, analysts and developers; network and database administrators; IT managers, program managers and business executives; voice and data communications technicians and engineers; testing and quality assurance (QA) engineers; technical support, help desk, and product specialists; graphic designers, art directors, producers, and Web developers; technical writers, technical editors and usability engineers; and more.
Not every typist with a resume service (not even the certified pro) knows the difference between a UNIX and a dot matrix, an A+ certification and a C++ program, or between CRM and a CD-ROM. But you can count on me to decipher your acronyms and ask intelligent questions.
To offer the best possible IT resume service, I stay abreast of a wide variety of information industry trends and technological advances. The best practices for writing technical resumes are a little different than standard resume writing and trends are constantly changing the game.
These days Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are used by virtually every Fortune 500 company to manage their recruitment process and sometimes by small to mid-sized businesses. It shouldn't be so difficult, but writing a resume that can pass through the ATS gate is challenging. In some cases including the wrong information for a search term can immediately eliminate qualified candidates. If your document does not adhere to ATS-compliant practices concerning dates, locations, tables, columns, symbols, accent marks, borders and lines, headers and footers, bullet styles, section headings, etc., you could lose out on opportunities.
Writing Wolf keeps up-to-date regarding the latest developments in writing ATS-optimized resumes so that you don't have to. The resumes I write follow the best practices to be ATS-friendly (unless you request otherwise because you are sure that your resume will be human handled only). Your resume will be machine readable and visually appealing. I'll also coach you in how to customize and submit your resume to increase its ability to get through the technology scan.
Like every profession in the world, the resume writing industry has evolved to keep pace with the changing landscape. In the last 18 to 24 months alone, the standards for presenting resume information have changed significantly. Today's documents are leaner, cleaner, and more telegraphic ... and they use technology such as LinkedIn appropriately. Your career marketing documents need to adapt. Avoid being typecast as behind the times or slow to change.
Seattle Resume Writer's creative process can be completed in about a week from the time we have our interview. You will typically receive a draft in 4 to 5 business days. If you have a need for faster turnaround, let me know and I will do my best to meet an accelerated schedule. Rush service is available for an additional fee.
Once you decide to get started, I'll send you the special career questionnaire that you are invited to complete and return. The questionnaire is optional so long as we have an in-depth interview. My questions go beyond your work history and invite you to reflect on your short-term and long-term career goals, plus your sense of your distinctive value to employers. Then we'll schedule an interview in-person (Seattle) or over the phone.
When I'm done, I'll provide you with a draft to review. You'll review the resume proof and together we proofread it and make any necessary revisions. Once you have a draft in your hands, get back to me with revision requests if any. If you would like to see a second draft, let me know and I will be happy to make changes typically within 1 or 2 business days.
After the writing project is complete, I'll check in with you to offer job search strategy coaching. I will be happy to answer any questions that have come up for you regarding your job search process, networking, interviewing, or customizing your documents and social media presence.
Few professional services for individuals have the potential for such a high return on investment. If you are out of work and the resume I prepared together helps you get back to work only one week faster, then I'll have saved you thousands of dollars. If you are presently working and your new resume helps you land a job that pays 10% greater salary, your ROI will be substantial.
My fees for resume services is competitive with prices charged by other leading, certified, and highly experienced resume writers.
If you've already tried the "super cheap, one hour resume" services advertised by those omnipresent Google ads, I'll be happy to fix your resume.
Don't make the disasterous mistake of replying to an ad for your dream job with a resume that screams, "I'll work for peanuts," when you could send one that reads like it was written by someone making thousands of dollars more than you're making right now.The investment for your resume is $500 for a document from 1 to 2.5 pages in length. Pricing for CVs exceeding 2.5 pages is by custom quote. Note: If you have less than 5 years of professional experience or are in a "blue collar" occupation the price is only $400. Cover Letters (E-Notes) and LinkedIn Profiles are also available for purchase separately. LinkedIn pricing is for writing delivered in Microsoft Word format. If you want me to post it online there is no additional charge.
You are welcome to pay 50% of the fee in advance and the balance within 5 business days of receipt of the resume for review. If you prefer not to pay with PayPal, you can bring cash or check to our in-person meeting or make a check out to Writing Wolf LLC and send it to us at 1617 Boylston Ave., Seattle, WA 98122.
Your professionally written resume is likely to yield a higher number of responses from both recruiters and prospective employers. You could be more likely to overcome challenges resulting from age, job gaps, education gaps, or career changes. It could also lead to better salary offers. Most important of all, your new resume could help you to find a position that will give you greater career satisfaction and rewards. If my writing or career strategy guidance helps you to turn a dead-end job that makes you miserable into one that is enlivening, the value is priceless.

Despite a less than perfect economy, jobs are always out there for candidates who get interviews. If you're not getting as many interviews as you should, it may not be about YOU. it may be all about your resume.
The successful job candidates are no different from the unsuccessful. But they know that to keep advancing their career, they have to be willing to "up their game."
That's why I'm here. I want you to not have to worry about your resume, so you can concentrate on the things you do best.
I want you to be confident that the next step in your career is the right one for you, and that you aren't selling yourself short with career marketing documents that miss the mark. After completing our process of resume development, career management coaching, and job search strategy consulting, you'll be confident and ready to move forward with enthusiasm.
